Author's Notes: This is the sixth in a loosely connected series, inspired by the Treksoap Jon and Mal (as ever, my thanks to those who bring them to life). But no back-story is necessary to understand Jon's feelings here.
Empty describes so much right now:
My life…there's a void in it. All the places I relied on him to be are vacant…or occupied by those who fill his job, but can never take his place.
My bed…it's so cold lying here alone, my other pillow still hollow from when his head last rested there…still bearing his scent.
My arms…reaching for him in the night, I find only darkness. At morning, I wake cradling only his pillow.
My heart…a chill wind blows through it, though it's not completely empty yet…
I still love him.
